Delbert Buck Skunk Rider Gal #0008

This is a Handcrafted folk-art piece by Delbert Buck of the Navajo Nation. The Skunk Rider Guy stands about 13 inches tall and about 13 x 5 inches wide. The wood pieces are hand carved and painted by Delbert Buck of the Navajo Nation. 

According to Navajo Folk Art by Chuck and Jan Rosenak the Buck Family members are typical Navajo herders of sheep and goats. Delbert was born in 1976 and studied auto mechanics. Buck started making sculptures from found objects at age 12. Delbert Assembles constructions from found objects and combines then with crudely carved and painted figures. Humor and satire are central to his art.
